EP - Transfusion Evidence Medicine

Database
The Transfusion Evidence Library database provides access to evidence-based publications on all aspects of transfusion medicine: Systematic Reviews, Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) and Health Economic Evaluations. We also include Clinical Commentaries for newly published studies. The Commentaries are written by selected experts and focus on the implications for daily clinical practice,

The Transfusion Evidence Library database is a unique resource for clinicians, scientists and policy makers from around the world who are interested in the science and practice of blood transfusion and blood alternatives. Instead of searching multiple databases and journals to find relevant articles, individuals can search the Transfusion Evidence Library database to find what they need quickly and easily. The high quality of the evidence is ensured by applying strict methodological criteria, and new records are added continuously. All relevant systematic reviews (since 1980) and RCTs (since 1998) are included, and pre-1998 RCTs will be added in the future.

The database is developed by the Systematic Review Initiative (SRI), a clinical team from NHS Blood and Transplant based in Oxford under the leadership of Professor Mike Murphy, whose objective is to increase the evidence base for the practice of transfusion medicine.

The Cochrane Collaboration has officially endorsed the Transfusion Evidence Library database, recognizing it as “a unique, evidence-based resource for the transfusion medicine community.

EP - Transplant Library

Database
The Transplant Library database provides easy access to all available evidence on all aspects of solid organ transplantation.

The database contains all available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and good quality Systematic Reviews. RCT’s are critically appraised and receive a methodological quality score based on Jadad scale plus 2 additional criteria: allocation concealment and intention to treat analysis.

Expert Reviews are written for recently published articles. These reviews are produced by a group of ~150 internationally recognized experts.  Each review contains a Commentary, a Clinical Impact Rating, and Practice Changing Studies are highlighted.
The Transplant Library is unique: no other resource in the field of organ transplantation exists that provides access to all available high-level evidence publications.

The database is produced by the Centre for Evidence in Transplantation (CET), under the leadership of Sir Peter Morris (Emeritus Nuffield Professor, University of Oxford). The CET is a joint department of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the University of London. Its mission is to advance transplantation research and promote an evidence-based approach to transplantation medicine.
